Writing Things Down Before I Forget

There is a strange thing about life.

While we're busy trying to build careers, pay mortgages, raise children, and plan for the future, the moments that actually shape us quietly disappear.

Not because they weren't important.

Because we assumed we'd remember them.

We rarely do.

I started this website because I don't trust my memory nearly as much as I trust writing.

This isn't a publication.

It isn't a personal brand.

It isn't a place where I pretend to have everything figured out.

It's a notebook.

A place to collect ideas worth keeping.

Some of these notes will be about investing. Others about technology, AI, digital strategy, or the future of search. Many will be about fatherhood, family, ownership, and building a life with fewer regrets.

They all point toward the same question:

What actually matters over a lifetime?

I've spent much of my career helping organizations become easier to find online.

Search engines have changed.

AI is changing them again.

But underneath all of that, one thing has stayed remarkably constant:

People are searching.

Sometimes they're searching for information.

Sometimes for answers.

Sometimes for hope.

Sometimes for a better future.

I've realized I'm searching too.

Not for the next algorithm update.

Not for another promotion.

Not even for financial independence.

I'm searching for principles that still make sense twenty years from now.

The kind of ideas that don't become obsolete when technology changes.

The kind of lessons I'd want my children to discover someday if they happened to read these pages.

I don't expect every note here to be profound.

Most won't be.

Some will simply document something I learned the hard way.

Some will preserve a conversation I never want to forget.

Others will explore ideas that are still unfinished.

That's intentional.

Life is unfinished.

One lesson has become clearer every year:

The most valuable assets aren't always the ones that appear on a balance sheet.

Time.

Trust.

Health.

Family.

Curiosity.

Character.

Those compound too.

In many ways, this site is simply my attempt to document that compounding.

If something I write helps another parent, investor, marketer, or builder, that's wonderful.

But the first audience is much smaller.

My future self.

My children.

Perhaps one day, my grandchildren.

If they ever wonder what I believed, what I was learning, what I struggled with, or why I made certain decisions, I hope they'll find the answers somewhere in these pages.

Because memories fade.

Writing lasts a little longer.

So this is where I'll keep writing things down before I forget.
